考研英语长难句在考研试题的每一个题型中都有分布，在完型填空和阅读理解中，长难句是我们不得不攻克的一大难题；在翻译中，长难句也会因为结构比较复杂，让我们对整个句子的理解造成了很大的困难，这也是我们的翻译很难取得分的原因；在写作中，合理而又正确的使用一些长句，会让我们的文章增色不少，从而成为加分点。另外，多记一些长难句对提我们的语感和单词的记忆帮助也很大。所以，各位考生不能只是单纯的只背单词，觉得只要单词记住了，就没问题了，而是应该每天在背单词之余，还要花费部分精力在长难句上。那么，考生应如何备考长难句我们以14年的翻译试题为例，供大家练习使用。

分析：本句话很长，乍一看感觉无从下手，但我们分析后不难看出这是一个if引导的条件状语从句，主句是由and连接的两个并列句，这样我们可以初步将这个句子分为三个分句：
1. if you are part of the group which you are addressing；
2. you will be in a position to know the experiences and problems which are common to all of you；
3. and it’ll be appropriate for you to make a passing remark about the inedible canteen food or the chairman’s notorious badtaste in ties
拆分之后，再逐个部分分析：
句1中的which you are addressing是定语从句，修饰前面的the group；句2中也有一个定语从句which are common to all of you，该从句修饰前面的experiences and problems；句3中的it是形式主语，其真正的主语是to make a passing remark about the inedible canteen food or the chairman’s notorious badtaste in ties，主语部分的about短语作remark的定语，该短语是由or连接的两个并列小短语，因此，句1本身比较短，可以不用拆分了，句2可以继续拆分为2个小部分，而句3可以继续拆解为4个小部分：

这样，一个长难句被我们拆分成了7个小部分，在翻译的时候，只要把这7个部分意思弄懂了，整个句子也就差不多明白了。
句子拆分完后，还有一些障碍，那就是单词，本句中的生词不算多，我们主要看它们在本句中是怎么用的，例：
address常用的词义是“地址”也可以表示“演讲”，如Lincoln’s Gettysburg Adress（林肯的盖茨堡演讲），同address an audience（对听众发表演讲）。Aaddress还可表示“处理”，如to address a problem（处理一个问题）。在本句，是“演讲”的意思。
appreciate的同义词是proper（合适的），反义词是inappropriate或improper（不合适的）。
